Transfer
After
incubation, the pre- embryos are transferred back
to the uterus via a catheter. This procedure is painless
and usually takes ten to twenty minutes to perform.
The patient is advised to remain in the bed for twenty-four
hours after the procedure.
Embryos
are often transferred at the blastocyst stage, dependent
upon many developmental variables. The embryologist
and physician decide the most appropriate transfer
stage for each individual couple.
